Restoration of Cavities & Fillings

Cavities are caused by bacteria in the mouth which create acid from food and drink particles ingested by the patient. If caught early they are very easy to restore with tooth colored filling material (composite). Composite is placed after removal of the cavity to restore the missing tooth structure while protecting the nerve of the tooth and sealing the tooth.

If cavities progress over time they can become too large for a composite restoration and can require a crown, root canal or even necessitate extraction.

Dr. Flanigan only uses tooth colored composite restorations and does not use amalgam (silver) to restore teeth.
